Polyphenol-Loaded Polymeric Matrixes as Potential Biopharmaceuticals against Cancer

Polyphenols have attracted attention for their anti-inflammatory, antidiabetic, and anticancer properties. Due to the antioxidant anti-inflammatory potential of these molecules, they are also proposed as a therapeutic tool prevent complications cancer decrease secondary effects conventional chemotherapeutic drugs. Nonetheless, polyphenols such flavonoids phenolic acids low bioavailability, highly metabolized. Thus, administration strategies been developed enhance properties polyphenols. Most involve different encapsulation techniques, nanoencapsulation, nanoemulsion, use other polymeric matrixes. These techniques can increase activity compounds after going through gastrointestinal process improve solubility in an aqueous medium. This review comprises recent studies regarding bioactivity against current state clinical studies. Overall, micro- nanoencapsulation with polymers enhanced by inhibiting tumor growth, modulating expression genes related metastasis angiogenesis, decreasing pro-inflammatory biomarkers.
